*****Spring Nature Walk with Gyotaku Art
Saturday, May 2·10:00am – 12:00pm
Frog Hollow Environmental Education Center, Stone Mountain Rd, Schuylkill Haven

Enjoy a spring morning outdoors with a short guided walk from the parking area to the pavilion, where you’ll explore the traditional Japanese art of Gyotaku—fish printing. You’ll create your own fabric print inspired by leaf packs found in the creek and learn how they relate to the health of local fish and bird populations.

While your first print dries, take a relaxed ramble through the beautiful trails of Frog Hollow Nature Center. Then return to the pavilion to complete your artwork using acrylic paint.

Meeting Location: Parking area off Stone Mountain Road outside of Friedensburg. Our guide will meet you there and lead the group to the pavilion.

What to Bring:
Wear old clothes suitable for acrylic paint
Sturdy walking shoes for forest trails
This free program welcomes elementary-aged children with their parents as well as nature-loving adults.

****Sunday May 3rd 2:00-4:00pm “History of Foraging” 
Learn basics of foraging and how many wild foods were historically utilized by indigenous people, colonists, and modern foragers.
Meets at Sweet Arrow Lake Waterfall Pavilion Parking Lot. This longer walk takes MANY stops for observing, so bring dogs and children at your own discretion. Led by Hemlock Hannah.
(2-3 miles, easy).


****Schuylkill County Sketchers
Every 3rd Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
Meet with like-minded people who enjoy nature and creativity at this monthly nature journaling walk. No art experience is necessary. You only need something to draw on and draw with. Bring your favorite color tools along if you have them (colored pencils, watercolors, etc). Drawing helps you to see more and connect with what you are seeing. Learn about supplies and get art tips to help you get more on your page. This is free for all ages and held outdoors. Meet at the Waterfall parking lot off Waterfall Road.

****Memorial Day Concert
M & J Big Band will perform at the Large Pavilion on the grounds of the Sweet Arrow Lake Clubhouse on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25 from 6:00 – 8:00pm. Everyone enjoys the annual performance of the “Big Band” at Sweet Arrow. This outdoor concert is FREE and open to the public and is part of the Sweet Arrow Arts in the Park Program sponsored by the Sweet Arrow Lake Conservation Association and made possible with a grant from the Schuylkill Area Community Foundation. “Please bring lawn chairs.”

***Hershey Zoo America – Saturday, June 13 @ 11:00am
Zoo America will visit Sweet Arrow Lake to present Native Pennsylvania Species. Pennsylvania's wildlife heritage is presented in this program. Both the common, as well as the uncommon native species of our forests, fields and towns, are highlighted. Live animals will be included in this program. Wildly popular this event will be held outdoors at the Waterfall Pavilion, 48 Waterfall Rd., Pine Grove. Those attending are asked to bring lawn chairs. . This program is free and open to the public, sponsored by the Sweet Arrow Lake Conservation Association and made possible with the help of a grant from the Benevolent Association of Pottsville. ****Wildlife Day Camp (ages 4-9) 
Monday, June 29 to Wednesday, July 1, 2026 — 9:30 to 11:00 am
Camp is on a “donation only” basis with thanks to the Schuylkill Area Community Foundation.

Camp Features: Hikes, crafts, mystery bag, learning about the surrounding water, forest and fields – all designed to inspire curiosity about the natural world around us! "Our popular day camps provide, fun learning by doing and discovery, environmental experiences."
Day Camp Director: “Porcupine Pat" McKinney, Educator for the Schuylkill Conservation District.
Site Information: Camps will be held in the Waterfall Road Pavilion at Sweet Arrow Lake County Park located near Pine Grove. The site features a variety of wildlife habitats and nature trails. Modern bathroom facilities are available.


****Sunday July 26th 2:00-4:00pm “Summer Foraging Walk”
